Welcome to the Fishing Museum

What's behind a fish dish? Tradition, hours and a lot of work!
The Palamós Fishing Museum (Costa Brava) aims to be a space for dialogue between seafarers and the rest of society. A space where you can learn about the trade, the species, the evolution of this art and the fishing of the future.

Area 1. What is fished?
Presentation of the immense biological diversity of the Mediterranean.

Area 2. Where and from where is fishing done?
You don't catch fish just anywhere. The sea has its specific fishing places depending on the species and the season. The visitor will become familiar with the fishing grounds and the role of the port in this trade.

Area 3. Who is who in the fishing world
All professions, trades and auxiliary industries related to fishing and its evolution over time, available to those who venture into the Museum.

Area 4. How it was fished and how it is fished
From the most rudimentary systems to the most sophisticated and modern. A walk through the adaptation of human beings to the environment and the evolution of fishing.

Area 5. The future.
Reflections on the future scenario, taking into account the present and the past already presented.

Complementary activities. Everyone in the water!

Visit to the Fishing Museum, the fishing port and the fish market. A guided tour of the present and maritime past of our coastline. At the foot of the port, with the fish boats and the fishermen's market, and in the Fishing Museum, with models, audiovisuals and a permanent exhibition that will surprise you.

Visit to the boats. Experiencing the smell of an engine room, the perception of the seabed or a school of fish through the monitor of a probe, a radio conversation, the touch of a net... An outing with sensory elements to feel up close and personal. participate in the fishing world.

Knot workshop. The materials and typologies, learning how they are made and their usefulness. Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes. You must make a prior reservation.

Artisanal fishing on board the Raphael. The artisanal fishing techniques, the signs and the traditional fishing grounds of our coast. A day aboard the Rafael, following criteria of sustainability and respect for the environment. Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Latin sailing excursion. Live traditional navigation. Departure of three and a half hours, every day at 10.30:XNUMX a.m. Bread with tomato is offered.

The coast of Castell. Discover the coastal landscape. Departure of two and a half hours, every day at 16.30:XNUMX p.m. It will cool you down with a watermelon! And we will give you a ticket for the guided tour of the Iberian town of Castell.

The route of the privateer Barbarossa. We navigate through the history of the bay. Departure of one hour and a half. We're giving away a pirate scarf for the little ones!

The sea at night. Sail with the stars! Departures of two and a half hours. July and August. Glass of cava included!

Summer hours (June 15 to September 15). Open every day from 10 a.m. to 21 p.m.

Winter hours (from September 16 to June 14). From Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 13.30:15 p.m. and from 19 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays and holidays from 14 a.m. to 16 p.m. and from 19 p.m. to XNUMX p.m. Closed on Mondays, non-holidays.
