The Government proposes 18 measures to promote sustainable agriculture and stop farmers' mobilizations

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has presented a set of eighteen measures aimed at addressing the concerns and demands of farmers and ranchers throughout the national territory. In a meeting with the main agricultural organizations, Asaja, COAG and UPA, these proposals were detailed, which are structured into seven main areas:

  1. Reinforcement of law enforcement in the food chain, with the creation of the State Food Information and Control Agency and the updating of inspection plans.
  2. Administrative simplification, with proposals to make the conditionality of the Common Agricultural Policy more flexible by 2024 and the expansion of the catalog of eco schemes .
  3. Trade issues, such as defending the principle of reciprocity in the use of phytosanitary products and improving the effectiveness of the Customs Union.
  4. Agrarian Insurance, with support for the combined insurance system and adaptations to take into account the new climatic circumstances.
  5. Professional diesel, maintaining current incentives and convening the Extensive Livestock Forum to address their specific needs.
  6. Reinforcement of programs to incorporate young people into agriculture and livestock, with subsidized and guaranteed credit solutions.

These measures seek to guarantee the viability and sustainability of the Spanish agricultural sector, as well as promote environmentally friendly agricultural and livestock practices. It is expected that the dialogue between the Government and agricultural organizations will continue to find effective solutions to the challenges facing the sector.
