RBA, a family business

First steps in Spain

Ricardo Rodrigo is the current president of Grupo Editorial RBA, a leading company in Barcelona, Catalan and Spanish culture. Ricardo was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and studied Law in his country of origin. He arrived in Spain in 1971, beginning to work as a style editor at the Bruguera Editorial in which he ended up being appointed Editorial Director only 6 years later (1977), he would never leave the publishing sector.

Birth of the Editorial RBA

RBA was born in 1981 as a publishing services company, becoming the first in its sector in Spain. The company was founded by Ricardo Rodrigo, Carmen Balcells (literary agent) and Roberto Altarriba (former director of Editorial Bruguera).

Its name corresponds to the initials of the surnames of the three founders. RBA is currently the leading Spanish publisher of magazines, including Semana, Lecturas, Saber Vivir, El Mueble and National Geographic, among others. He also leads the publication of books and collectibles. The Editorial Group is present in more than 50 countries and in 12 languages, having new projects designed for Europe and America.

Innovation and growth

Starting in 1991, RBA, already established as an Editorial Group, is characterized by being an independent, multi-channel communication group with an international vocation and 100% Spanish capital. It also highlights its desire for constant innovation and continuous growth.

The priority objective of the group is to have a positive impact on the lives of millions of readers, through the creation of different products created for that purpose.

The main corporate values of the company are:

  • Independence : RBA always acts based on its own values. All its products always seek to intuit where success is headed, having freedom of choice and above all making the right decision.
  • Quality: Publisher's main premise. Without quality it is not possible to satisfy the needs of increasingly demanding readers. In addition to making competition impossible in such a complicated and variable sector. Without quality it is not possible to lead the market.
  • Creativity, understood as character and originality. RBA is constantly searching for new creative avenues, developing innovative ideas that will boost business and attract new readers.
  • Proximitywith your readers. To get to know its readers and what they think, the publisher regularly conducts research. In other words, being able to offer what the reader demands is a guarantee of success.

The Editorial RBA group reinforces its representation as a family business with the incorporation of Ana Rodrigo Ghiozzi as General Director of RBA Revistas SL and as Editorial Adviser of the Group.

We also want to highlight other peculiarities of RBA that make this company much more than an Editorial Group. For example the creation of your own Foundation.

RBA Foundation

Created in 2011 and chaired by Ricardo Rodrigo himself. The main objectives are the promotion of ideas, the encouragement of dialogue and the dissemination of culture

The Foundation organizes different events that cover all kinds of topics, always finding a space for dialogue, coexistence and the fight against marginalization.
