El marimurtra It is one of the oldest and most precious botanical gardens in Europe. Promoted at the beginning of the 20th century by a botanical enthusiast, the German Carl Faust, has become a unique place due to its characteristics.
El Marimurtra Botanical Garden It is a leafy balcony suspended over the first cliffs of the Costa Brava. The best architects, landscapers and botanists of the time were the architects of this space, the result of the passion of a merchant that he found in the town of Blanes the ideal place to make your dream come true. 
Going through the entrance door to the premises you will be able to admire a Noucentista building, the work of Josep Goday. This entrance marks the transition to a microcosm of life, a space that brings together the five continents in four hectares. Walk along the trails, always following the path on the left, and in an hour and a half you will complete the tour through idyllic places with nature as the protagonist.
Up to 4.000 species grow here just as they would in their places of origin thanks to the reconstruction of each landscape. The garden is divided into three areas – tropical, temperate and Mediterranean – organized by plant communities – “phytoepisodes” – from different parts of the world. The area of the Pergola, monkey puzzle centenarians and Five Mediterraneans These are just some of the points of interest in this space.
The unique character of the garden is given by the high botanical value and the antiquity of its specimens, as well as by the uniqueness of the architectural elements that make it up. The Goethe Square It is the starting point to one of the most impressive viewpoints on the coast. A long staircase flanked by canvases of greenery and flowers will take you to the Linné temple, looking out to the sea. From this point, and following the line of the cliff, you will find three more viewpoints, among them Margalef, which offers the wildest view of the coastline.
The garden is also a space with a clear teaching vocation. The little ones can be introduced to the world of botany in the organic garden, and those who are no longer so can expand their knowledge of ethnobotany or genetics in the Mendel zone.
