The self-employed sue the Generalitat

The self-employed sue the Generalitat: The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia admits for processing a lawsuit against the Generalitat of Catalonia from a Terrassa self-employed association for the damages caused by the restrictions issued by the Government during the pandemic, derived from its powers after the decree was issued. second decree of the state of alarm that the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional.

The president of the association of people affected by the coronavirus (AEDACS), Ignacio Rubioit's adviser de Autonomous Egarencs and in an interview granted to Catalunya Radio he declared the following:

This lawsuit comes to put on the table the claim of the economic losses that people have suffered and that the aid did not reach many professionals. There was no legal technical criterion on what had to be done, they were working on the fly and thinking «let's see what we do next week».

In other words, there was the "perfect storm" for the self-employed: on the one hand, restrictions that have been declared unconstitutional, accompanied by insufficient and discriminatory measures that have not served to compensate for economic losses.

Other associations of self-employed and small businessmen from all the Catalan counties are studying joining the lawsuit filed against the Generalitat de Catalunya before the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia. Expert assessments are being carried out to establish the losses they have represented for the self-employed. The associates are transferring the data of the economic situation that they have had to suffer during these two years and from here quantify it through reports of the Association's accounting experts.

The self-employed and small businesses are the industrial base of the Catalan economy and have had to face the restrictions that the Government of the Generalitat has imposed due to the pandemic, with hardly any compensation. Since these restrictions have been declared unconstitutional, the door is now open for the self-employed to sue the Generalitat de Catalunya.
