CD Blanes

This is an article that collects historical information about CD Blanes.

CD Blanes was founded in 1913 by a group of vacationers, who began to practice football on the beaches of this Girona town.

After several years of history, the club achieved its greatest success in 1985, when it was promoted to the Third Division of Spain, where it remained for nine years. The 1988/89 season the club starred in the best campaign in its history, fighting fear of promotion from Second B. Finally, it finished the league in fourth position.

A year later, he won his first official title: the Generalitat Cup (current Catalonia Cup). The Girona team beat UDA Gramanet 2-0, with a team made up of: Isidro, Juqui, A. Muñoz, Sans, Durán, Sirvent, Resto, Benítez, José Luis Muñoz, Quique (Ramón) and Marcuelo (Sebas ).2 José Luis Muñoz, who a year before had been the top scorer in the Third Division with the Blanes shirt, scored the two goals in the victory.

Starting in the 1993/94 season, the club, weighed down by economic problems, suffered several relegations, which sank it to the First Regional Division in 1997. In 2004 it began its resurgence, chaining four consecutive promotions, which allowed it to return to the Third Division in 2006.

There are already many people who ask about facts, data and events of blanencs players or who have played at our Club. One of the most significant titles or deeds in which our entity has been involved during the 90 years that have been at the door of life.

It was in 1921-1922 when a young blanenc, center forward, in "Cullec Pequeno", was the first soccer player to become part of an elite team, Barça. He played for a short time, he was a good player but for personal reasons with his little boy he left him in his first year.

Years later, there were several local players who, after the Civil War, played in higher categories, but not in the first division but in the second, among others: the Torrents brothers, "the big one" and "the little one"; in Garriga, they played for Badalona, Mataró, etc.

Another blanenc also played with Barça. the 1940-1941 season, as a striker, in Rafael Casamor “lo de la Farmacia”, he played as pitxitxi in the first. Also in the same season he played, "the boy from Cassà de la Selva", in Josep Burcet, who played midfield.

But I think that the most exceptional case for our people, although he never played Blanes, was that of Josep Parra, who for family reasons at the age of 14 went to live in another city. Joseph Parra I think he played for Terrassa as a youth and before turning 18 he signed for Espanyol, becoming the only blanenc to play for the Absolute National Team to this day.

He played as a center back in the famous World Cup in Brazil in 1952, being part of the legendary team that eliminated the all-powerful England team in a 1-0 result, with the famous goal by en Zarra. In Josep Parra he was called the best central defender in the championship, forming part of the ideal team along with Basora and Ramallets, continuing to play until the 60s, always for Espanyol. A tribute was paid to Blanes, which was massive, playing a match between a reinforced blanenc team and the first team of Espanyol; There were about 3.000 people in the field.

Between 60 and 70 there were also players from Blanes, although they were not blanencs, who triumphed, including goalkeeper Sancho, who went to Espanyol in the first team and from there became a Real Madrid goalkeeper.
Also a boy from a town in the Maresme, named Guillermo, signed for Valencia and another Maresmenc, named Varela, signed for Valencia first class, as in Bolea, etc.

Also worthy of mention between the 60s and 70s are the three blanencs who signed for the first division although they never played for Blanes. They went to Casamor, also called "the one from the pharmacy", who signed for Barça, but did not get ahead due to personal matters, studies at the university.

But the best feat was starred in Josep Maria Ruiz and Esgleas "Se Chico Marroi" who played with the Espanyol youth team. He went to the first team and was part of the Olympic team in the Mediterranean games of which they were Champions, becoming one of the players of the subsidiary team. He was a starting player for Espanyol's first team. In none of a few years he had the misfortune of a serious injury and had plenty of time to recover. It seemed that he would leave football but he returned to sign for Mallorca where he finished his sports career.

That you remember from the 60s, a striker, loaned to Blanes by Barça, went to Diego Espinosa, from Poblenou, went to Ceuta in second place and was released to Levante and Hércules. Years later they returned to being some young locals who with great enthusiasm are going to try their luck at the Masía de Can Barça. The first was in Salvador Castanyer “I know from Can Cuixi” he was at Barça B, at that time at Condal, and he came to play some games with the first team. He was followed by the young Sebastià Pla “En Sebas” who formed in the already Barça B, ending his sporting life in Blanes.
Who also went from youth from the Salle de Girona to Blanes at the age of 18 and was signed by Zaragoza playing with the second team, Aragon and also playing with some of the first team was Juanjo Requena. After playing in different categories he returned to Blanes.

In the 90s, some Blanes players went to second place to Barça, in “Siscu Francis”, he was there for a long time but he also finished Blanes. Another was in Salvador Jape, who was at Espanyol, but was loaned to Hospitalet in second B. Of all those called, he is the only one who is still active, I think at Banyoles.
Moving on to the 2002 season we have a young José Ignació Martínez, who went on to Espanyol youth and the second team. He had the misfortune to get injured last year, but it looks like he'll do fine, now he's on loan to second B.
