This year marks the tenth anniversary of the delivery of the Cross of Sant Jordi to the Blanes Catholic Center. The award ceremony was held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and, later, a celebration was held in the plenary hall of the Blanes town hall.
En 2006, the Generalitat of Catalonia granted the Cross of Sant Jordi award to 62 personalities and 15 entities that stood out for the services provided to Catalonia in terms of identity and culture. Among the personalities who have received the award, the eRBA group director Ricardo Rodrigo, the filmmaker Isabel Coixet or the former mayor of Barcelona Narcis Serra. In addition, other award-winning entities were the club Nastic Tarragona, Family Business Institute or the Catalan Press Association.
The Center Catòlic de Blanes was founded in March 1906 in the parish of Santa Maria de Blanes. Its mission is to unite all Catholic youth to promote the ideals of Catholicism and carry out cultural events for the people of Blanes. In addition, it is an active association in the promotion of other cultural associations such as the sardanista.
